Lemonade and Paris Buns

The man is old, has a dog, and meets some siblings who are without adult supervision. I'm not sure why he entertains these children who are as seemingly emotionless as the old man, but regardless he gives them ice cream and shares stories with them. Maybe these interaction are nothing more than a chance for the man to not be lonely and interact with others. Maybe the animal stories are nothing more than a child making up a completely impossible, illogical story about animals and sweets which are both liked by children. I really can't say anything about this story in concrete words, because it leaves me with too many questions that spawn other questions in endless cyclic confusion.
